Ione Skye
During the 1998 media blitz prior
to the release of Hello
Nasty, interviewers were told up front that asking
Adam Horovitz about his
relationship with Ione Skye was off-limits. The couple at
that time had been rumored to be having problems and the
band did not see the need to answer questions regarding
this private issue.
Prior to 1998 though, Adrock's marriage
to Ione seemed to be one of constant bliss. They appeared
together in the 1994 independent movie City Scrapes:
Los Angeles. They can also be seen together in some
of the Ricky Powell Rappin'
With the Rickster cable access episodes that circulate among
bootleg trading circles.
Yet, it was on June 23rd, 1999 that
a public announcement was made by Ione herself. She appeared
on the E! Network Howard Stern Show and on cable tv revealed
that not only had she and Adam split up, but since their
split she had been romantically involved with women. Howard
made a big deal out of the fact that Ione had lesbian encounters
following her marriage to one of the Beastie Boys. It has
been speculated that Howard Stern has never really forgiven
the band for the way they acted during the Licensed to
Ill days when they appeared on his radio show.
The announcement concerning Ione's
sexuality has in no way affected her ability to work in
Hollywood. The longtime actress continues to make movies
and beloved by many fans who may not even know that she
was married to one of the Beastie Boys.
