"...it's called Aglio E Olio...you know, like when you go to the restaurant and you order Spaghetti Aglio E Olio and it's like, with garlic and oil. It's just like spaghetti! It's like, the most common dish in Italy! It's just spaghetti with garlic and olive oil. Low budget! You could make that meal for yourself at home for probably like, a whopping 98 cents! But just to let the kids know, it's eight songs but only ten minutes. It's important to let the people know..." - Michael Diamond, 1994

"When we first started working on Hello Nasty in New York, Awol [Amery Smith] was around helping us get set up. Along with the usual bunch of experimental jamming/sampling etc., we started playing a bunch of hardcore, putting song arrangements together really quickly. Then I started writing vocals. Soon we realized that we had way too many hardcore songs to possibly put on the next album, so we decided to release them all together as an EP." - Michael Diamond, 1999

Press

"While touring behind Hello Nasty, the Beasties regularly busted out hardcore songs by the likes of Agnostic Front, Minor Threat, and Reagan Youth - along with their own take on Billy Joel's 'Big Shot.' The move came as no surprise to anyone familiar with this EP, on which the B-Boys collaborated with Awol and returned to the hardcore roots documented on Some Old Bullshit. At eight tracks in just over 11 minutes, this hardly qualifies as extended play. There are better hardcore albums out there, and there are better Beastie Boys discs, but fans will still enjoy Aglio E Olio. - Randy Silver, Amazon.com

"...the Beastie Boys return to their hardcore roots, slamming out eight tunes in eleven minutes" - Option, 1996
