Merchandise Archive

Within the (admittedly poorly named) Merch section we hope to create a database of everything that has been ever been sold or given away by the Beastie Boys or their affiliated endeavors. If you'll collect it, we'll archive it. We hope to give the Merch section a depth equal to our Discography or Gigography so please contact us if we're missing something (which we know we are).

Title: Bucky Lasek Skate Decks
Year: 2012
Section: Misc.
Dimensions:
Notes: From the press release:

Skate legend Bucky teamed up with Adam Yauch of the GRAMMY Award-winning Beastie Boys to create this one-of-a-kind artifact—Bucky Lasek’s personal ridden skateboard deck, plus three additional new skateboards, with his favorite song lyric (“Bodhisattva Vow”) written on them by Adam Yauch himself.

The three new decks feature one verse each from the Beastie Boys’ “Bodhisattva Vow,” with the deck that Lasek actually rode featuring drawings by Yauch on it. The ridden board is a 7-ply maple laminate Element brand Bucky Lasek “Free Tibet” pro model. It’s decorated with Lasek’s personal decal ensemble, and has all the signature wear and tear you would expect from a professional athlete.

In March 2012, Yauch hand-wrote wrote the lyrics to “Bodhisattva Vow” on the boards, completing this gift just weeks before he died in May.

Proceeds from the sale of this set of four (4) decks will benefit a skatepark project in New York City, Yauch’s hometown. Such an artifact from two icons of the skate and music worlds has never existed before, and your bid will help create a lasting legacy.

These boards will remain in the exhibit through Monday, December 17, 2012, and will be available to ship after that date. They include a Letter of Authenticity from the Tony Hawk Foundation, custom embroidered velvet covers, as well as custom hanging hardware from Sk8ology.

Title: Juxtapoz, June 2013
Year: 2013
Section: Magazines
Dimensions:
Notes: From the press release:

It has been a year since the passing of one of music most prominent sons, Adam "MCA" Yauch. We wanted to do something special this year, and In tribute to MCA and the undeniable impact the Beastie Boys have had on our art and culture for nearly 30 years, we are pleased to announce our very special June 2013 issue: Beastie Boys, a visual history + tribue to MCA. The issue was curated and compiled by our contributing editor-at-large, Joey Garfield.

A big thank you to Haze for contributing his iconic handstlye to Juxtapoz' masthead this month.

For the special issue, we have interviewed every album cover artist, from Polly Wog Stew to Hot Sauce Committee Part Two, inner-sleeve artists, photographers, and even feature some of the outtakes that went into every album cover. We find the inside stories of how each album came to fruition through the experiences and artwork of each artist that is now part of the Beastie Boys canon.

We speak to Cey Adams, Haze, Arabella Field, World B Omes, Glen E Friedman, Ricky Powell, Todd James, Mike Mills, Matteo Pericoli, Bill McMullen, Bruce Davidson, Alex Grey, Kiino Villand, Sunny Bak... and, we interview Adrock of the Beastie Boys as he gave us the inside story and behind-the-scenes look at how each album cover was selected, from inside the band.
